Our work together will focus on learning to understand thoughts,
behaviors, and your environment. Some thoughts and behaviors may have been
useful and protective at one time. They are familiar and we came to rely
upon them during stressful times. An experienced therapist contributes to
enhancing your effectiveness and increasing your self-awareness.
Our work together can help develop skills to alleviate worried thoughts,
anxiety, and difficulty adjusting.

If you’re living with depression, trauma, childhood wounds, and grief and
loss, Jim can help.
Jim is a certified CADC, and provides psychotherapy for persons
experiencing addictions.
Jim is an effective couples counselor, supporting traditional and
non-traditional families, blended, multi-racial and multi-ethnic, gay and
lesbian, polyamory, leather, kink, etc.
You will find respect and understanding for Transgender persons and their
families seeking mental health and medical treatments. Jim’s experience is
balanced with expertise and competence.
Individual and couples counseling for all persons: straight, transgender,
bisexual, lesbian, gay, queer, and those who are questioning.
Jim Cosenza is an experienced psychotherapist with extensive training in
a wide range of mental health issues.
On the north side of Chicago, the office is in the Uptown neighborhood,
and near Edgewater, Andersonville, Lakeview, Rogers Park, Evanston, North
Park, Lincoln Square, Ravenswood, Wrigleyville, Lincoln Park, and Mayfair.
Driving is convenient, the office is fully accessible, adjacent to public
transportation, has a coffee shop on the first floor, and parking is
plentiful.
